GSE — install and use

A step-by-step guide to the Gnome Sequencer Enhanced (GSE) addon: how to install it, how to import macros and how to play with ready-made rotations. My full setup and ready macros — in the document below.

GSE (Gnome Sequencer Enhanced) is a WoW addon that runs complex rotations with a single button press. Inside a macro there are «blocks» of spells: GSE cycles through them and presses the needed ability at the right moment.

When you need it:

  • a class with a long rotation (shaman, hunter, warlock…);
  • you want to remove «spam» and button mashing;
  • ready-made macros — paste, bind, play.

ImportantGSE is not a bot and not an «autoplayer»: you still control your character, move and press abilities by situation. The addon only simplifies pressing the rotation.

Get GSE from trusted sources:

  • CurseForge — GSE — the official addon page;
  • the Wago App or CurseForge Desktop client — it installs and updates addons for you;
  • manually: on the CurseForge page click Download and unpack the archive.

Tip:

If you install manually, first delete the old GSE folder (if any) — otherwise versions get mixed and the addon won't load.

On the character select screen click Addons at the bottom left and tick Gnome Sequencer Enhanced.

If the addon is marked as «out of date», tick Load out of date AddOns and enable it (addons for older patches usually work on current ones too).

Then log into the game. GSE will add its icon panel and chat commands to open its window.

Open GSE with either command in chat:

/gse  or  /gs

In the GSE window you'll see the list of macros. There's also a panel button which opens the same window.

  • the Macros tab — your current GSE macros grouped by class;
  • the All tab — every GSE macro;
  • the New, Import, Export buttons — for working with macros.

Ready rotations for your class and specialization are on the «Classes» page of this site — under the right specialization, after entering the password, you'll find the «export string» (a long text with the GSE macro code).

  1. Copy the whole export string (Ctrl+C).
  2. Open GSE (/gse) and press Import.
  3. Paste the text (Ctrl+V) and press Import again.
  4. The macro appears in the list. Close the window.

The ready macro will also appear in your spellbook on a new panel — drag it to an action bar slot like a normal ability.

It's simple — press and hold the macro button:

  • while you hold the button, GSE cycles through the rotation blocks and casts the needed spells;
  • release the button — the rotation stops;
  • to stop instantly, right-click the macro button (the addon interrupts the loop) or use your stop macro.

TipIt's usually most comfortable to bind the macro to a wheel or a key and hold it while you fight — and release it between fights.

Some rotations have conditional blocks (e.g. «use when ready») and modifiers — the special-ability modifier is chosen by the rotation itself. If a macro doesn't fit your build and talents — pick another rotation for your class on the «Classes» page of this site.

  • Delay between presses — set in the GSE options. Too small a delay can burn a battle rez or cast abilities at the wrong time; the safe rule is to leave the default.
  • Updates — install new GSE versions from CurseForge/Wago App so macros work on the current patch.
  • Regions/Languages — ability names in macros are localized; most macros ship with regional bindings. If a macro from another region isn't found — look for the EU/US/Latin version.
  • Backup — the Export button saves a macro to a text file; export your rotations so you don't lose them on a reinstall.

Didn't find a macro?Check my document above — there I wrote which GSE you need, where I take macros and how I tune it for myself (the doc is in Russian).
